It was like yesterday. Far in time but near in memory.
Time flies. It is a popular, common, and overused phrase that proves its truth repeatedly.
It is only nine months since we gathered around to celebrate us, our victories, and our new President under the theme “Together We”. September 2022 was a time of turmoil and turbulence. Yet, we were so eager and prepared to challenge the obstacles.
It was a glamorous evening, as always. Siyane events are always glamorous. Last time it was an evening of brown and gold. They are the colours of autumn, the time that reminds us of starkness and beauty at the same time. They are the colours of the earth, the fertile soil, and the ripe fields of grain. It symbolised our success and strength as a club.
All the members meticulously planned and executed the event utilising their talents and skills. The décor, the entertainment, and the inspiring speeches created lasting memories. That was the evening that motivated us to take steps to enhance member engagement in the coming year.
The merriments that followed the formalities were exhilarating. It was also the day of the 2022 Asia Cup Final Cricket match. On the widescreen, we watched the final overs which ultimately lead Sri Lanka towards victory, and it was the perfect evening. Celebrations over celebrations. That was a good omen. Is there a better way to conclude a grand event? Maybe, there is.
It is time to welcome a new leadership. A new theme. New colours. New goals. And a new era.
