It is with immense pride and admiration that Siyane Toastmasters celebrates one of its most distinguished members, Toastmaster Lakmalie Jayaweera, for her recent achievement – a captivating presentation at the esteemed TEDx Colombo stage.
Since joining our club in 2017, Lakmalie has consistently demonstrated not only her flair for eloquent speech but also her multifaceted prowess across diverse professional realms. Dental surgeon, attorney at law, professional speaker, blogger, health administrator – the list goes on, underlining the breadth of her expertise and the depth of her commitment.
Her unparalleled dedication to the public health system of Sri Lanka has left an indelible mark. Serving as the Deputy Regional Director of Health Services in Anuradapura and Pollonnaruwa and as the COVID-19 Relief Coordinator of the Northern Province, her work has made a significant difference in countless lives.
The drive to excel academically is evident in her impressive roster of qualifications. Apart from her Bachelor’s in Dental Sciences and an Attorney at Law certification, Lakmalie’s pursuit of knowledge has led her to complete a Masters in Medical Administration. Currently, she is pursuing an MD in Medical Administration at the revered Post Graduate Institute of Medicine.
Outside the realm of medicine and law, Lakmalie’s passion spills over into the world of public speaking and environmental advocacy. As the Area Director of Toastmaster International, she works tirelessly to nurture and inspire budding orators. Her blog, sakulakstylz.com, offers insights into her diverse interests and experiences, while her platform, lifecoaching.lk, serves as a beacon for those seeking guidance in personal and professional growth. Furthermore, her role as a director of Ecowin (International) Pvt. Ltd. emphasizes her commitment to pioneering sustainable environmental solutions.
Her recent TEDx Colombo talk is a testament to her ability to glean insights from her vast experiences and share them in a way that resonates with a global audience. Focusing on the effective models she witnessed and worked with during Sri Lanka’s Covid Pandemic, Lakmalie provided valuable perspectives that are relevant not only to Sri Lanka but to the broader global community.
